In this show, cannabis is smoked by a group of friends in the basement. The characters smoke the cannabis in what they call the "circle", where they discuss topics while they are high. Through this show, the characters portray cannabis to be stress-relieving and entertaining to use. During the "circle", the characters are shown to be sitting in a circle with smoke in the background showing the use of cannabis. The characters discuss random topics which may sometimes be serious, humorous, or consist of just plain nonsense. The characters hold this "circle" at the end of almost every episode, showing that these characters use cannabis often, which could possible relate to addiction. Moreover, through the exposure of this constant use and image, That 70's Show illustrates that cannabis is not harmful to use. However, in this episode, the group of friends are caught in the act and the parents lecture the group of friends about the health concerns cannabis may pose on their health and intelligence. Then again, during this lecture, the group of friends are all experiencing humorous and unusual but entertaining effects from the cannabis.

Through this show, cannabis is illustrated in a positive light, bringing one happiness, entertainment, and other satisfying effects. Although the parents are shown to inform the audience that cannabis may be harmful to one's health and addictive, the characters who use cannabis are still having a great time, almost to show that the benefits of using cannabis outweigh the drawbacks. Additionally, cannabis is not shown to be very addictive, where characters "crave" or "need" cannabis, but is often used to relieve stress and relax more as an option, that is satisfying. It is also mentioned that the characters had their lives together, in a sense that they were happy and somewhat successful.
