We have all seen many movies that makes us excited to watch based on the genres we like, but I personally like to see films that are based on a true story. One out of the many I have seen, the film "Gimme Shelter" got t
he most attention. This film is based on a true story of a teenage girl who lived with her mother who was a drug addict and because of that she was taken away from her mother and was put to foster care for several years. Her mother only wanted her daughter because of the money she would provide to her, and for the mother to use that money to get the drugs she needed in her body. The main character in the movie, was tired of the situation of living with her mother, and decided to move on in her life and get away from the bad influences she was living with her and to add, she did not know she was pregnant. She went in the journey to seek for her biological father using an address that was in the letter that was sent to her mother. She still struggled to be a 'normal' person because she couldn't fully be incorporated to the society, and specially to the wealthy world that her father lived in. When she found out she was pregnant, she did everything possible to live healthy and to seek the best that was for her and her future child.

The point that I want to make is that addictions may led to have separation of families, lost of jobs, lost of self-dignity, etc. According to, American Addicti
on Center, it states that "Over 7 million Americans in 2014 battled a drug use disorder" (American Addiction Center, 2018). https://americanaddictioncenters.org/rehab-guide/addiction-statistics/ This makes many impacts to others, essentially to those you love. Without knowing, the use of drug may take dominance over our bodies, which result to making it a hard battle to overcome it, but not impossible to do so. As a society, we sometimes feel uncomfortable to talk about the real issues that are happening and seeing the reason why many people go homeless or lose families, and become so ignorant to that. Sure, we do have many ads, lectures, posters, etc., that aware us of the negative results we can have by consuming any type of drugs, yet there is big industries, famous artists that consume drugs and making it seem cool, powerful, and primarily acceptable, essentially to young teenagers. This can also happen due to peer pressure, something that my classmate Devon said, that initiates the addiction that can take over us.
Would there ever be an end to all the addictions happening in today's society? What are ways to stopping all these chaotic situations?

The anti-drug war vid is at least as interesting. Love to hear how you / we respond to the 2 different genres.
