Based on a documentary I saw, (this was
like 5 years ago) about the most known fast food restaurant, McDonald's, made a
change in their portion size around 1955 in the United States. Meaning that the sizes that are sold
in this place, have become a bigger in the size portion than what they used to
be before. For example, a large drink today, would be about four times the size
of a large cup used in the 1950s.

This has changed due to the demand of citizens wanting more and as a result
making their health be something to less worry about. I understand that
customers want to make their money be worth what they can get out of it, by
buying something that meets their needs, but this also leads to several
destruction in health terms.
According to Health Data, it states,
"An estimated 160 million Americans are either obese or
overweight. Nearly three-quarters of American men and more than 60% of women
are obese or overweight. These are also major challenges for America’s children
– nearly 30% of boys and girls under age 20 are either obese or overweight, up
from 19% in 1980" (IHME
2018). http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(14)60460-8/abstract Due
to having an increment on food industries and particularity fast food
restaurants, it made a result on having so many people being affected by it
from all ages. But obviously, there's the economic side, in which its a
benefit for them to have all of these places because of the incoming money
eared is high. These tend to be a success because one, citizens want their food as soon
as possible, two can be tasty and three is it affordable. This has slowly taken
control of how we tend to eat without caring about our health as much anymore.
Now we can see so many pills that can
help you lose weight without the need of changing our meals, portions and
exercising activities. So it seems that there has been more encouragement
on having people to eat all the unhealthy food they want and consume all these
pills that are made to "lose" weight. There are so many that are
offered to people, like Apridren, Obesitrol, etc., these are
instruments in which are used in society to encourage that unhealthy life.
Adverting all of these gets people's attention. So technically, these
industries with all of these products being offered are making a change in
society making seem that taking 'drugs' are okay to 'control' their health.
