The two apps I use for social media is both Facebook and Snapchat. The app I used to take pictures and post them at the moment is Snapchat. Snapchat has shaped me today in the technology world. When I take pictures I tend to like them the most when I put filters on because makes me look better than not having any filters at all. I also use it as a way to facetime and message (or as we say, 'snap') with my friends. There was a day that my boyfriend asked me why I used filters every time I took pictures (He tends to not use filters when he takes pictures with me). At that moment I also started questioning myself on why I did that? Was it because everyone else was doing it and they looked nice? Or is it that it has taken over my thoughts of looking myself look prettier with the filters and that is the reason why I did it? The answer is that technology has taken over my life.
In general, I carry my phone with me everywhere I go. The times I leave my phone at home and I am out, I feel incomplete. I feel 'bored' because I have no one to talk to even though I have my family around to do so. I use Snapchat to talk to my friends, but not really to snap them with pictures because I do think its dumb, yet I use it. My phone has become part of my body and my life. I personally think that the whole thing of the streaks is worthless because of 99.9 of the time there no words but just random pictures being sent to friends to have their streak scores high. But hey, using those cute filters makes me feel good because it either makes my eye color change, big eyelashes, lighter skin tone or makes my face be shaped differently, something that I like seeing in the phone with myself in it. When I send snaps I tend to either take pictures showing my face but with a filter and if I don't use any filters I just take a half face picture and send it.
As in today's society, Snapchat is being used almost by everyone under the age of 35 and under. It has been used to much that "It would take you 10 years to view all the photos shared on Snapchat in the last hour" (Aslam 2018). Technology has become part of us in our daily lives, is it something that we almost see everywhere we go in the world. Unfortunionally using social media has caused humanity, and myself, to 'forget' how to communicate with others when they are around them and cutting that communication to rather use social media. It has made myself and others to use apps to make one feel good about the picture they just have taken for it to be uploaded and have everyone see it. Why can't we get away from social media? What brings us go back to go use social media more than one time a day?

I hate to admit a lot of my interactions with friends are over snapchat or even dm's. There are times when I'm hanging out with friends or doing something and I want to take a picture of it because it'd be good for the snap or insta. My life seems to revolve around the different types of social media. I totally agree about how it seems to have us forget how to communicate with others.
